The two drawings of Elara evolved as I was exploring layout option for a portrait of a young girl. These are mixed media drawings that explore what might be the light and mood of the painting, as well as resolving how to introduce certain compositional elements. Sometimes drawings grow into works that have their own intrinsic magnetism, as I feel these have.
